A five-weight Kannada display family that inverts the script's traditional stroke contrast to produce a vertically stressed, condensed typeface suited to headlines and large-scale setting.
About
Designed by ITF co-founder Satya Rajpurohit in Ahmedabad, Sandur Kannada challenges conventional Kannada stroke construction by reversing the expected contrast axis. The lightest weight is near-monolinear, while the Bold achieves high contrast, allowing stress to build gradually across the five-weight range. Its condensed proportions make it well suited to editorial headlines, posters and broadcast applications in Kannada.
Classification
A display typeface with reversed stroke contrast giving vertical stress, condensed proportions and a high-contrast bold end of the weight range, designed specifically for Kannada script headlines.
