A digitisation of Bruce Raymund's early 1950s Photo-Lettering designs, capturing the bold shaded lettering of turn-of-the-century carnival posters in two cuts: standard and inline.
About
Originally drawn by Bruce Raymund for Photo-Lettering in the early 1950s, this typeface lifts its aesthetic directly from carny poster and sideshow signage. Allen Mercer digitised both cuts in 2012 as part of House Industries' Photo-Lettering collection. The shaded letterforms suit large-scale, attention-demanding settings such as packaging, T-shirts and promotional graphics with a theatrical bent.
Classification
A shaded, inline display typeface derived from early 1950s carny poster lettering, with strong decorative characteristics rooted in circus and sideshow signage traditions. The inline variant adds a white stroke through the letterforms, emphasising the dimensional, attention-seeking quality of the design.
