A collection of fonts drawn from Alexander Girard's mid-century lettering work, spanning a three-width slab serif, a script, a workhorse sans and an illustrative display face.
About
The Girard Fonts collection was developed with the blessing of the Girard family and encompasses four distinct subfamilies rooted in Alexander Girard's vast body of lettering. The Slab family runs across three widths and four weights with OpenType ligatures that simulate hand-lettered connections, while Girard Sky draws from the lettering style he used across the Braniff airline identity. Sansusie and Script round out the collection with more expressive, illustrative voices suited to display and branding work.
Classification
A multi-subfamily collection drawing directly from mid-century designer Alexander Girard's lettering work, spanning a slab serif in three widths, a script, a geometric sans display face (Sansusie) and a workhorse sans (Sky). The dominant subfamily is the Girard Slab, a bracketed slab with illustrative warmth, but the collection's overall character is display-oriented and rooted in hand lettering.
