Originally digitised from the type system in the 1970 New York City Transit Authority Graphics Standards Manual, NYC Sans was substantially reworked for broader contemporary usage beyond its transit signage origins. Developed in collaboration with Jeremy Mickel and under design direction from Emily Lessard, the family received additional weights and refinements for its role as New York City's official tourism brand typeface. The result retains the functional clarity of its source material while functioning across a wider range of applications.
