A warm geometric sans revived from a 1930s Hamburg metal type by Thomas Ackermann and Felix Bonge.
About
FF Bauer Grotesk revives Friedrich Bauer Grotesk, a 1930s German geometric from the same period as Futura and Kabel. It is less doctrinaire than those faces, with an oval O and looser terminals that give text a softer, more even colour. Six weights with italics and a pan-European version make it a good alternative for editorial and identity work.
Classification
Revival of Friedrich Bauer Grotesk, a metal type issued in 1933–34 by Trennert & Sohn in Hamburg-Altona. Geometric in the line of Futura, Erbar and Kabel, but less strict: an oval O, a distinctive M and differing endings on c and s. Six weights with italics, plus a Paneuropean version with Cyrillic and Greek.
