A display sans shaped by Italian hand-painted street signs and American Highway Gothic road lettering, blending warmth and human irregularity with utilitarian structure.
About
Begun in 2022 while its designer was living near Bolzano of northern Italy, Corsia takes its cues from the idiosyncratic, hand-lettered street signs of that area and fuses them with the no-nonsense proportions of American highway signage. The result sits in a particular vernacular register – structured enough to be practical, but loose enough to feel made by hand. Its 285-glyph character set covers a broad range of Western, Central, Northern and Eastern European Latin-based languages.
Classification
A hand-influenced display sans drawing on both painted Italian street signage and American Highway Gothic road lettering, giving it an informal, vernacular character distinct from conventional grotesques or geometrics.
