Originally a single heavy weight commissioned for the 23rd International Festival of Graphic Design in Chaumont, this sans-serif was expanded in 2017 into a five-weight family with italics and extended script support.
About
La Fabrique began as a bespoke typeface tied to a specific cultural commission, its production process documented across A0 serigraph posters and a 12-page specimen. The 2017 expansion brought four additional weights alongside the original heavy cut, each paired with an italic, plus coverage for Extended Latin, Greek and Cyrillic. OpenType features and discretionary ligatures were added as part of that revision.
Classification
A heavy sans-serif with grotesque characteristics, originally conceived as a single display weight and later extended into a five-weight family with italics. The sturdy, industrial quality of the forms reflects its origins as a commissioned typeface for a graphic design festival.
