A four-weight display serif by the late Joseph Churchward, distinguished by a cut-in motif applied throughout each letterform.
About
The cut-in detailing gives Churchward Montezuma a sculptural, almost incised quality that makes it well suited to headline and display work. Lighter weights retain enough legibility to function at text sizes. Each weight includes an alternate single-storey lowercase 'a', and the family covers the Western European character set.
Classification
A decorative serif with a distinctive cut-in motif applied across all strokes, making it primarily a display design. The unusual incised detailing sets it apart from conventional serif subcategories.
