BT Kommod
Bleifrei Type · Aaron Aebi · 2023

A soft, open-formed grotesque derived from pointed-pen handwriting, offering a generous x-height, wide spacing and an unusually rich set of ligatures in a single Regular weight.
About
Developed from a handwritten type specimen dated 1919, BT Kommod carries a calligraphic warmth that distinguishes it from constructed grotesques. Its strokes taper subtly at junctions, giving what might appear a single-line quality on first glance a considered optical refinement on closer inspection. Unconventional details in the Q, ampersand and dotted i add quiet character, while the sweeping f drives an extensive ligature set that can be swapped for a shorter alternate.
Classification
A soft, open grotesque with roots in pointed-pen handwriting rather than the mechanical precision of classical grotesques. The rounded terminals, calligraphic rhythms and single-weight appearance with subtle optical corrections place it firmly in a humanist tradition.
