Designed by Matthieu Dillier and released in 2023, BT Avance balances legibility at text sizes with enough personality to hold its own at display scales. The family spans seven weights from Thin to Black, with dedicated Text and Display subfamilies each available as variable fonts. Alternate V and W glyphs, oldstyle figures, an extensive ligature set and a higher-placed colon and semicolon add typographic flexibility.
Classification
A humanist sans-serif with a playful, light character suited to both text and display use. The organic, open forms and generous x-height align it with the humanist tradition, while its unconventional aesthetic gives it a distinctive voice.
