Sixteen digitised incunabula types from the moment printers moved from gothic to roman letters.
About
Gotico-Antiqua gathers early printing types from Fust & Schöffer, Sweynheim & Pannartz, Spira, Zainer and others, set beside a few later revivals. Each font keeps only the glyphs of its original, with the abbreviations and long s that make the texture, so they are for headings, quotations and historical work rather than running modern copy. The cuts make a rare set of the forms between blackletter and roman.
Classification
A collection of digitised fifteenth-century incunabula types: gotico-antiqua faces that mix gothic and roman forms, early proto-romans and hybrids, each named by its Typenrepertorium der Wiegendrucke reference. The fonts carry only the glyphs found in the original types, abbreviation marks and long s included.
