A deliberately neutral narrow sans-serif by Avraham Cornfeld, covering Hebrew, Yiddish and 230 Latin and Cyrillic languages across eight weights.
About
Released in 2011 and updated to version 5 in 2021, Almoni Tzar is one of Israel's most widely used display typefaces, built around the practical need for bilingual Hebrew-Latin typesetting. Its narrow proportions and studied neutrality are intentional: the design avoids distinctive quirks so that it serves the content rather than competing with it. With 1,151 glyphs and Cyrillic letters designed by Anna Khorash, it is among the more thorough multilingual Hebrew typefaces available.
Classification
A narrow, neutral sans-serif with no strong stylistic personality, designed to support Hebrew, Latin and Cyrillic scripts in a single coherent family. Its condensed proportions and even stroke weight place it firmly in the grotesque tradition.
