A bilingual Hebrew and Latin grotesque designed to sit quietly across both body text and display settings without dominating the layouts it serves.
About
Afek pairs eight weights of neutral grotesque letterforms across Hebrew and Latin scripts, with 526 characters and support for 220 Latin languages. The Latin cuts carry a deliberately high x-height and low caps-height to align more naturally with the proportions of Hebrew type, reducing the visual friction common in bilingual composition. Originally released in 2017 and updated to version 2.0 in 2024, the family was designed by Avraham Cornfeld with development by Anna Khorash.
Classification
A bilingual Hebrew and Latin grotesque sans-serif with neutral, functional proportions. The Latin cuts feature an unusually high x-height paired with a low caps-height, specifically engineered for smooth coexistence with Hebrew letterforms.
