serifMyeongjo
310 Junginja specimen from AG Font

A single-weight Hangul text face designed for 9pt setting, tempering classical Myeongjo sharpness with even stroke weights to ease reading fatigue.

About

Designed by Ahn Sam-yeol in 2017, it addresses the legibility problems that arise when sharp-serifed, high-contrast Myeongjo styles are reduced to small sizes, replacing thin strokes and angular terminals with more even weights and generous counters. The result maintains the fluid curves associated with Myeongjo while borrowing the structural consistency of Gothic, making it workable at both text and display sizes. The character set covers 2,576 Hangul letters, 192 Latin characters and over 1,000 symbols, including vertical punctuation support.

Classification

A Hangul text typeface in the Myeongjo tradition (the Korean equivalent of a Latin serif), blending the fluid curves of classical Myeongjo with the even stroke weights and structural clarity of Gothic to reduce eye strain at small sizes.
