Shinka specimen from Aeiou Tools

A monospaced serif built from Japanese bullet-train information screens, with a true italic that bends hard to suggest speed.

About

Shinka takes its structure from the display typeface used on Japanese bullet-train information screens, forcing Latin letters into unicase proportions to match Japanese ideograms. The result is a monospaced serif with exaggerated ink traps and a sharply slanted italic. Six weights run from Thin to Black, each with a matching italic.

Classification

A monospaced serif with unicase-influenced Latin proportions matched to Japanese ideogram widths, placing it in the serif category despite its technical, display-derived brief.
