Azahar specimen from About Type

A two-part transitional serif family with discrete Text and Display optical sizes, developed with 29 Letters Type Foundry and available in Arabic.

About

Azahar Text offers balanced proportions and moderate contrast suited to extended reading and complex editorial layouts, while Azahar Display introduces sharper detail, flared serifs and higher contrast for headlines. Both optical sizes span five weights with matching italics and are available as variable fonts with weight and optical size axes. The family was developed in collaboration with Pascal Zoghbi of 29LT, with an Arabic version available directly from that foundry.

Classification

Azahar is rooted in classical transitional letterform conventions, with moderate contrast and balanced proportions in the Text cut, and sharper details with higher contrast in the Display cut – hallmarks of the transitional serif genre.
