A five-style display family rooted in the hand-lettered banners of Italian football ultras from the 1970s and 80s, developed by Romain Tronchin during his ECAL Master's in Type Design.
About
Each of the five styles – Roma, Venezia, Bologna, Palermo and Milano – shares the same underlying geometric framework but adopts a distinct treatment: square counterforms, circular counterforms, rectangular outlines, stencil cuts or a more neutral filled form. Intentional oddities drawn from tifosi fanzines are preserved, lending the family an authentic vernacular character. Milano is the most versatile variant, suited to both titling and running text, while the remaining four are optimised for large-scale use.
Classification
A geometric, modular display typeface derived from vernacular Italian stadium banner lettering, reduced to elementary forms with square and circular counterforms. Its five stylistic variants – including outline, stencil and filled versions – place it firmly in the display category.
