A dingbats typeface that exploits over 5,000 OpenType kerning pairs to let designers compose arrows of arbitrary length, style and direction from modular keyboard-driven components.
About
Rather than offering a fixed set of pre-drawn arrows, Robin breaks each arrow into tail, body and point elements mapped to keyboard characters, with uppercase and lowercase controlling left or right direction. More than 5,000 kerning pairs snap the components together automatically, yielding an effectively unlimited range of arrow forms from a single Regular font. The approach repurposes OpenType technology in a way that was largely unexplored in type design at the time of its 2010 release.
Classification
A symbol and dingbats typeface composed entirely of arrow forms, assembled through OpenType kerning pairs rather than pre-drawn glyphs. It fits within display as a specialist utility font with no conventional letterforms.
