Jesse Ragan's decorative serif revival of late 19th-century 'Runic' and 'Celtic' types, in six weights and three widths with a variable font.
About
Lyric synthesises several historical sources from the end of the 19th century, including types from Bruce's Type Foundry, MacKellar Smiths & Jordan and Stephenson Blake, which shared spiral-curled loops, long bracketed serifs, bowed crossbars and inscriptional capital proportions. The included variable font spans six weights and three widths, giving designers granular control across a wide tonal range from mannered and delicate to bold and stately. The typeface is in active development, with further refinement, improved kerning and an extended italic character set planned for future updates.
Classification
A late-19th-century revival with spiral-curled loops replacing ball terminals, long bracketed serifs, bowed crossbars and inscriptional capital proportions. The ornamental character places it firmly in the decorative serif category, drawing on types from Bruce's Type Foundry, MacKellar Smiths & Jordan, and Stephenson Blake.
