Sligoil was drawn by Ariel Martín Pérez for the interface of the indie game Unknown Number, taking cues from British Isles culture and the lettering on vintage MIT Space Cadet keyboards. Large inktraps and upright italic alternates give it a distinctly playful monospaced character. A 2025 update added Vietnamese support with help from Đông Trúc Nguyễn.
