Pilowlava
Velvetyne · Anton Moglia, Jérémy Landes, with the contribution of Maksym Kobuzan · 2019

A geometric display face that recalls cooled lava flows, balancing compass-drawn precision against calligraphic, graffiti-informed energy.
About
Pilowlava takes its name from pillow lava, the smooth rounded rock that forms when underwater volcanic flows cool. Anton Moglia and Jérémy Landes let calligraphic and graffiti hand movements disturb an otherwise geometric, compass-built structure, producing letters that alternate shape in what the foundry calls thermic accidents. A 3D variant and a climbing-gym edition with drilled holds have followed the original release.
Classification
Named for pillow lava, the smooth rounded rock formed when lava cools underwater. Compass-drawn geometry meets calligraphic, graffiti-informed hand dynamics, producing alternating letter shapes the foundry calls thermic accidents.
