Milestone specimen from Vee Ratchanon

A work-in-progress old style serif derived from Alexander Phemister's 19th-century Old Style No. 4, cut for the Scottish foundry Miller & Richard, reinterpreted for contemporary use.

About

Milestone traces its origins to Miller Old Style No. 4, Ratchanon Boongsrithong's rational adaptation of Phemister's punch-cut design from the late 19th century. The design prioritises the balance of texture found in the historical source while accentuating the characteristic rectangular serifs and redistributing their weight for modern typographic settings. The typeface remains in active development with no release date confirmed.

Classification

Derived from Miller Old Style No. 4, itself a rational adaptation of Alexander Phemister's Old Style No. 4 for Miller & Richard, placing it firmly in the 19th-century old style serif tradition with emphasis on rectangular serifs and balanced texture.
