Kryptique
Typothèque Bye Bye Binary · Lucie Tessier · 2026

A single-case Gothic display face drawn from broken arches and Gothic architecture, developed initially for the Krypte Bordeaux logo before being expanded with post-binary ligatures following Queer Unicode Initiative guidelines.
About
Originally sketched in 2024 as a logo design, Kryptique uses the minimum number of atomic forms necessary to remain legible while retaining a graphic, experimental character. The 2026 release introduced post-binary ligatures alongside multiple stylistic alternates for inclusive writing, positioning the typeface as part of a broader exploration of non-binary typographic conventions rather than settling on a single canonical solution.
Classification
Inspired by broken arches and Gothic architecture, with a minimalist set of atomic forms. Single-case display design with strong angular qualities rooted in blackletter tradition.
