About
Homoneta borrows square slab serifs with optically softened transitions, the upright axis of lineale types, pen-derived thick-thin strokes with drop terminals, and extended ligatures that function as new graphemes. Its inclusive capital ligatures are drawn in the manner of monograms, drawing on medieval ornamental tradition. The design takes atavism as its conceptual starting point, treating anachronistic typographic traits as ancestral features resurfacing in an unexpected context.
Classification
Homoneta deliberately crosses typographic eras, combining square slab-like serifs, upright stroke axis from the lineale tradition, pen-derived thick-thin contrast, drop terminals and exaggerated ligatures drawn as monograms. This deliberate hybridisation resists singular classification and is best understood as display.
