A subversive reworking of DIN Fette Breitschrift by Clara Sambot that rotates the lowercase 90°, deconstructs letterforms into Soennecken-derived modules, and introduces inclusive and non-binary glyphs and ligatures.
About
Built from a modular breakdown of DIN Fette Breitschrift, the design traces its logic back to Friedrich Soennecken's grid-based system, which underpins the DIN norm tradition. The lowercase characters are tipped 90°, blending condensed and extended proportions within a single face, while capitals retain their original geometry. Numerals, punctuation and accent marks carry visible traces of these rotations, and the typeface includes alternative glyphs and ligatures designed to render gendered language more inclusive.
Classification
A reworking of DIN Fette Breitschrift, itself rooted in Friedrich Soennecken's modular grid system — the structural ancestor of DIN norms. The redesign deconstructs letterforms into modules, rotating the lowercase 90° while retaining capital proportions, producing an unconventional hybrid that sits firmly in the geometric display category.
