An experimental display Antiqua drawn from stone inscriptions at the Basilica di Santa Croce in Florence, combining Florentine sans-serif elements with irregularly placed serifs and unusual contours.
About
Designed by Eugene Tantsurin, TT Ricordi Marmo belongs to TypeType's TT Ricordi series, which revives letterforms found in carved plaques and ancient stonework. Lowercase characters are replaced with small caps, and the family includes discretionary ligatures, stylistic alternates, and a set of decorative icons and border patterns adapted to the typeface's proportions. At small sizes it reads neutrally; at display scale its graphic peculiarities become pronounced, making it suited to posters, packaging and short-form headline setting.
Classification
Classified as serif due to its explicit Antiqua designation, though it deliberately fuses elements of Florentine sans-serif lettering with traditional serif forms, resulting in irregular, asymmetrically placed serifs derived from stone inscription traditions.
