A narrow octagonal display family from 2016 in which circular forms are replaced by octagons, with small serifs adding a vintage edge across five weights.
About
Built on the structural principle that all circular letterforms become octagons, TT Octas achieves a distinctive geometric character reinforced by subtle serifs. Its narrow proportions make it effective for setting large amounts of text within confined spaces, and the family covers over 160 languages across Latin and Cyrillic scripts. Designed by Ivan Gladkikh with the TypeType team, the five-weight family with matching italics suits brand identity, product labelling and digital interface work.
Classification
A narrow, octagonal display typeface with small serifs that give it a vintage character. The defining structural feature – circles replaced by octagons – places it firmly in the display category rather than conventional serif or sans-serif.
