A display slab serif from TypeType distinguished by sharp comet-tail terminals and undercut stroke-to-serif junctions that give it a handmade, calligraphic energy.
About
Designed to sit somewhere between the weight of a heavy slab and the fluidity of brush calligraphy, TT Cometus uses high-contrast serifs alongside deliberately contrasting soft forms to create tension within each letterform. Sharp terminals on characters such as c, y, e and t echo the trail of a comet, while stylised arc-and-bowl junctions add a sense of motion. Version 2 extended the character set to 1,000 glyphs, added Cyrillic support across 230-plus languages and expanded OpenType features from 18 to 33, including alternate g and ampersand forms.
Classification
A display slab serif with high-contrast serifs, sharp brush-like terminals and distinctive undercuts at stroke-serif junctions. Conceived explicitly as a super display slab, it prioritises impact at large sizes over text setting.
