Taler began as a serif companion to Nekst but quickly established its own identity, retaining Nekst's rigid construction while developing expressive detail work. Rectangular, slightly elongated serifs anchor its genre, while proportions carry a faint baroque rhythm beneath the discipline. At text sizes it reads as a confident, characterful serif; at display sizes, tense joins and atypical construction choices become visible, revealing a personality that prioritises expression over convention.
