A narrow display sans-serif with asymmetrical angular cuts and an extreme slant axis spanning 80 degrees across italic and retalic styles, inspired by German posters of the early 1930s.
About
TT Biersal draws from early 20th-century German poster lettering, translating its dense, hand-cut proportions into a six-style family comprising one roman, two italics, two retalics and a variable font. The slant axis runs from -40° to +40°, allowing text blocks set at opposing angles to suggest movement or shadow. Asymmetrical diagonal cuts, overshot stroke terminals and tapered ovals give the upright a collage-like quality suited to festival graphics, packaging and motion work.
Classification
A display sans-serif with narrow proportions, asymmetrical angular cuts and an extreme slant axis ranging from -40° to +40°. The handmade, modular quality and expressive italic system place it firmly in the display category rather than functional sans-serif.
