A single-weight display typeface built entirely from straight lines, conceived by Elena Schneider from experiments with geometrical Arabic pattern design.
About
Halunke abandons curves entirely, replacing them with sharp cuts and straight lines that strain letterforms to the edge of legibility. Its name – German for scoundrel – signals its confrontational character. The 2020 Tomorrow release added a Cyrillic glyph set, extending coverage to Bulgarian, Russian, Serbian and Ukrainian among others.
Classification
An expressive display typeface constructed entirely from straight lines and sharp cuts, with no curves. Its radical geometric construction pushes letterforms to abstraction, making it unsuitable for body text and firmly in the display category.
