Bram de Does's 1982 book face for Enschedé, a refined serif in four versions of ascender and descender length that all share the same widths.
About
Designed for Joh. Enschedé en Zonen in 1982 and first issued for analogue phototypesetting, Trinité comes in four versions set apart by stem length, from short (No1) to long (No3), with No4 adding swash stroke endings. Capitals and figures are identical across versions, and regular and medium share their widths, so you can change stem length or weight without the text reflowing. The family runs to 23 fonts across roman, italic and condensed cuts.
Classification
Trinité is a refined transitional serif with classical proportions, designed for text composition. Its four numbered variants differ primarily in stem (ascender and descender) length, with Version 4 adding swash stroke endings, situating it firmly in the European book typography tradition.
