About
Montalbano started Slooterdam in 2009 and left it unfinished until the pandemic lockdown of March 2020, when he built out the complete eight-weight family from the original Regular. Its very large x-height led to an unusual approach to small caps, drawn at the same height and weight as the lowercase so they double as alternate lowercase forms. The name comes from the early Dutch settler name for Fair Lawn, New Jersey, Montalbano's hometown.
