An extra-condensed serif with 16 styles and a variable axis, blending composed structure with deliberate quirks drawn from British and Italian typographic sensibilities.
About
Designed by Rostislav Vaněk with collaboration from Matyáš Machat and Petr Kučera, Epika ExtraCondensed introduces subtle idiosyncrasies – unexpected letterforms and refined details – into an otherwise balanced serif construction. Eight weights run from ExtraLight to Black, each with a matching italic, totalling 16 static styles plus a variable font. The family supports 310 languages in the Latin script and includes 19 stylistic sets alongside features such as small caps, old-style figures and swash alternates.
Classification
A Latin serif with playful, quirky details set within a composed overall structure. The extra-condensed proportions and refined idiosyncrasies place it firmly in contemporary display serif territory rather than any classical revival.
