Tinkuy Patterns specimen from Sudtipos

A modular pattern system of over 2,650 combinable modules drawn from Andean archaeological motifs.

About

Tinkuy, a Quechua word for the meeting of complementary opposing forces, is born from analysis of visual signs recorded on native Andean archaeological pieces, part of the research project Crónicas Visuales del Abya Yala. Six files of modules combine into an effectively infinite range of textile-like patterns.

Classification

A non-alphabetic modular pattern system drawn from Andean archaeological motifs rather than a letterform typeface, split into six combinable module files.
