Compita
Studio Buchanan · Jonny Gibson · 2020

A slightly condensed neo-grotesque from Jonny Gibson that pairs over-emphasised terminals with a professional, restrained width across six weights and matching italics.
About
Compita takes the Berthold grotesque tradition as its starting point but tempers its rigidity with humanist details and a deliberate creative looseness. The weight distribution skews lighter than most grotesques, with the Thin and Light cuts designed to perform at large display sizes, while Medium and SemiBold handle running copy at smaller settings. Over 37 languages are supported, alongside OpenType features including small caps, multiple figure sets, discretionary ligatures and stylistic alternates.
Classification
Described explicitly as a Neo-Grotesk Sans-Serif, drawing from the Berthold/Neue Haas tradition while incorporating humanist attributes and slightly condensed proportions. The mix of over-emphasised terminals and condensed width places it in a hybrid grotesque camp.
