Laurenz Brunner's 2022 typeface traces a path from Swiss construction company signage through UK rave culture to science-fiction aesthetics, offered in four weights across three widths.
About
The design draws on no-nonsense Modernist lettering found on heavy machinery and road work vehicles in Switzerland, later adopted by designers including Peter Saville, 8vo and Designers Republic as a visual shorthand for the early UK club scene. Three width variants – Standard, Wide and Extended – across four weights give the family an unusually broad range suited to display and environmental applications. Stylistic sets offer alternate forms for A, M, N, R and W, adding further expressive flexibility.
Classification
A wide-ranging geometric sans with industrial construction origins, spanning extreme width and weight axes. Its Modernist structure and modular forms place it firmly in the geometric sans tradition, though its cultural lineage is closer to post-industrial display typography.
