Sharp Slab is an Egyptian slab serif developed as the final addition to the Sharp Sans Superfamily, a system conceived for editorial design and stress-tested on the 2016 Clinton presidential campaign. Designed by Lucas Sharp and Connor Davenport, it shares proportions and geometric logic with Sharp Sans, making the two families interchangeable in layouts without disturbing spacing or rhythm. Seven weights from Thin through ExtraBold, each with a matching italic, give it the range to cover display headlines, subheads and body text across both print and digital contexts.
Classification
Geometric Egyptian slab serif — rectangular serifs of uniform weight, consistent with the right-angle geometry of Sharp Sans. Shares identical proportions and weight range with Sharp Sans, making the two families interchangeable in layout without disrupting rhythm. Part of the Sharp Sans Superfamily alongside Sharp Sans Display No.1, Sharp Sans Display No.2, Sharp Sans, and Sharp Sans Condensed. No flared or bracketed serifs; the construction is clean and low-contrast throughout.
