DOSS Collection
Sharp Type · Marc Rouault · 2024

A techno-futurist display collection of four typefaces by Marc Rouault, unified by exaggerated geometry and unicase letterforms, with a lineage traced to an obscure Hollenstein phototypesetting face.
About
Released in 2024 after five years in development, DOSS comprises Exaflop (in three widths), Acid, Plexus and Problem (four stylistic variants including an outlined and a rounded version). Each face is built around exaggerated geometric structures and unexpectedly round counterforms, drawing from construction and hi-fi audio brand logotypes as well as '90s rave aesthetics and '80s sci-fi. It works best in headline and identity contexts where an explicit genre allegiance is the point.
Classification
Unicase display superfamily of four stylistically distinct faces; exaggerated geometric construction with unexpectedly round counterforms; no traditional weight axis — instead nine named stylistic variants across Exaflop (three widths), Acid, Plexus and Problem (four variants including outlined and rounded). Traced to an obscure Hollenstein phototypesetting face by Emeric Dorr, reworked to invert '70s and '80s futurist clichés.
