A sturdy English oldstyle book face by Ellmer Stefan, in proportional, hybrid and monospaced versions, each with its own Italick, written as a tribute to Laurence Sterne's Tristram Shandy.
About
Shandy takes its lead from the Caslon era of English oldstyle and from the typographic games in Sterne's novel: asterisks, dashes of every length and pages left black or blank. It comes as three subfamilies, Omni (proportional), Poly (a hybrid of proportional and fixed widths) and Mono (fixed-width), each with a Book and an Italick. The feature set is generous for a text face, with small caps, swashes, oldstyle and lining figures, a long s, flipped S, smart arrows and a centred asterisk, and the spacing was finished with Igino Marini's iKern.
Classification
A sturdy book face rooted in the English oldstyle of the late 17th and early 18th centuries, the Caslon lineage, issued in proportional, semi-fixed and fully monospaced versions.
