Conceived from a chance encounter with a printed paper-ream label in 1996 and revisited in 2017, OCR-010204 takes the optical character recognition aesthetic as its starting point and extends it into display use. Five static styles are accompanied by five variable fonts, with extensive OpenType features including seven stylistic sets, small capitals, discretionary ligatures and scientific inferiors. The compressed proportions and strict monospacing give it a functional, machine-readable character suited to technical and editorial contexts.
