Contro
Public Type · Harsh Patel, Michael Cina · 2023

A nine-weight geometric sans inspired by early 20th-century European modernism, designed by Harsh Patel and Michael Cina with an unusually extensive suite of stylistic alternates.
About
Drawn in late 2023, Contro references the rationalist typographic tradition of Tschichold, Renner, Bill and Bayer without directly reviving any single source. Twenty stylistic sets offer significant glyph-level variation, giving designers granular control over the typeface's character across weights from Thin to Black. The family supports legible Latin text but is oriented towards experimental display work and deliberate typographic composition.
Classification
Contro draws on early 20th-century European modernist typography – referencing Tschichold, Renner, Bill and Bayer – with geometric construction and a multicultural Latin glyph set. Its upright, rationalist forms and extensive stylistic set system place it firmly in the geometric sans tradition.
