On a mission to create the world’s biggest index of typefaces from the world’s best type foundries

sans-serifgeometric sans
Chrysalis specimen from Public Type

A rule-governed geometric sans originally drawn in 2015, offering five weights, a variable axis and 20 stylistic sets shaped by Greek lettering traditions and Swiss modernist influences.

About

Built on a strict geometric framework with acknowledged debts to Roger Ferriter, Armin Hofmann and Max Bill, Chrysalis reinterprets Greek-styled lettering through a contemporary lens. Twenty stylistic sets, discretionary ligatures and an extensive alternate glyph system give designers considerable latitude to vary the typeface's character without breaking its underlying structural logic. Greek script support and a variable version round out a family positioned primarily as a branding and identity toolkit.

Classification

Strictly geometric construction inspired by Greek-styled lettering, with letterforms governed by a structured rule set. The extensive stylistic set system and alternate glyphs push it toward display territory while retaining functional legibility.
