A uniwidth variable sans serif designed for headline use, drawing structural cues from the northern Vyaz Slavonic calligraphic hand with a simple modular geometry.
About
Designed by Alexandra Korolkova for the Modern Cyrillic 2019 competition website, Tupo Vyaz offers a Weight axis across three named instances while maintaining consistent character width throughout. Its fixed diagonal stroke angles open the possibility of variable glyph height, a feature prototyped for a future release. The closed, modular letterforms reference the northern variant of Vyaz calligraphy without reproducing its historical complexity.
Classification
A modular closed sans serif drawing on Vyaz Slavonic calligraphic tradition, with simplified geometric construction and fixed diagonal stroke angles. Its uniwidth variable design links it to geometric sans principles rather than humanist or grotesque models.
