displayTypewriter / Distressed
Telegraph specimen from ParaType

A four-style display family derived from scanned telegraph printing machines, ranging from faithful dirty originals to cleaned and baseline-corrected variants.

About

Each of the four styles occupies a distinct position on the spectrum from authentic to regularised: Natural preserves the misaligned positioning and ink degradation of the original paper tape prints, while Clean Straight corrects both. The intermediate styles allow designers to select the degree of distress appropriate to their context. The family is suited to advertising and display work requiring a period telegraphic flavour.

Classification

Based on scanned telegraph printing machine output, the family sits firmly in the display category with a distressed, typewriter-like character across four stylistic variants ranging from faithful reproductions of dirty originals to cleaned-up versions.
