Strob specimen from ParaType

A pixel display typeface built from horizontal rectangular segments, evoking dot-matrix and LED readout aesthetics, released in three style variants.

About

Designed by Alexey Chekulaev at Double Alex Font Studio between 2001 and 2006, Strob constructs each letterform from stacked horizontal bar segments arranged on a strict grid. The three styles – No1, No2, No3 – offer variations within this screen-derived pixel framework.

Classification

The specimen clearly shows a bitmap/pixel grid construction where letterforms are built from horizontal rectangular segments, evoking LED or dot-matrix displays. This places it firmly in the pixel/screen display category.
