Propisi specimen from ParaType

A Cyrillic cursive script designed in 1997 for Russian primary school copybooks, modelled on the handwriting samples in L.I. Tikunova's 'Rodnoy Mir' textbook.

About

Originally created at ParaType (ParaGraph) by Manvel Shmavonyan, the typeface was built around the joined, upright letterforms taught in Russian primary schools. Two subsequent revisions by Gennady Fridman extended coverage from the original Russian alphabet to full Cyrillic and Western code pages by 2009. The Medium weight was introduced in the same year, giving the family two styles suited to educational and children's publishing.

Classification

A handwritten cursive script designed to model Russian primary school penmanship, based on copybook letterforms. Its upright, joined letterforms are characteristic of educational script fonts rather than calligraphic or brush scripts.
