A display family drawing directly from 1960s West Coast psychedelic poster lettering, offered in two contrasting styles – the soft, rounded Far Out and the more aggressive Drop Out – plus a set of fluid word-form extras.
About
Created by designer Dimitris Foussekis around 2001, PF Psychedelia was developed using original 1960s vinyl sleeves and posters as reference, including the pioneering work of psychedelic poster artist Wes Wilson. Far Out favours rounded, hallucinatory forms while Drop Out takes a harder, more assertive approach. The Extras font, bundled with the complete family, contains fluid decorative forms composed from words.
Classification
A display typeface explicitly modelled on 1960s psychedelic poster lettering, with organic flowing forms and no conventional serif or sans-serif structure. The two main styles and extras set place it firmly in the display/decorative category.
