displayArt Nouveau display
Montaña de Oro specimen from Damn Type Co

A bold Art Nouveau-influenced display face that channels early 1900s lettering through the psychedelic band poster aesthetic of the 1960s and 70s.

About

Organic, swelling curves define this single-weight display font, drawing on the ornamental letterforms of the early twentieth century that later informed the hand-lettered concert poster tradition. The shapes are loose and expressive, with a naturalistic quality the designer links directly to the coastal landscape of Montaña de Oro State Park in California. Suited to headline use where a retro, decorative character is called for.

Classification

A decorative display face with explicit Art Nouveau influences, featuring organic, flowing curves inspired by early 1900s lettering and the psychedelic band poster tradition of the 1960s and 70s. Its groovy, swelling forms place it firmly in the ornamental display category.
