A four-style experimental display typeface in which letterforms are constructed entirely from arrangements of holes, producing a perforated surface when set as continuous text.
About
Designed by Alexey Bokov and released by ParaType in 2009, Performance replaces conventional stroke-based letterforms with sequences of circular or rhomboid holes. The four styles – Circle Minus, Circle Plus, Rhomb Minus and Rhomb Plus – vary the hole shape and placement to alter mood and appearance. The typeface carries no side bearings or leading, so text set in it merges into a single perforated plane resembling a block of postage stamps.
Classification
A highly experimental display typeface built from perforated patterns of holes rather than conventional strokes, placing it firmly in the decorative/display category with no conventional serif or sans-serif classification applicable.
